The Council of the College of Dentistry at Tikrit University holds its fourth session for the academic year 2024_2025

Today, Wednesday, 1/29/2025, the fourth session of the Council of the College of Dentistry was held, headed by Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Rhael Ali, and attended by all members of the College Council. At the beginning of the session, the Dean welcomed the members of the College Council and began the meeting by discussing the paragraphs raised in the meeting. The meeting focused on several important scientific and administrative files that serve the interest of the college.

In the first paragraph, the meeting discussed reviewing the promotion requests for a number of professors of the College of Dentistry to follow up on the academic progress of teaching competencies.

In the second paragraph of the meeting, the approval of the grades of the first course for postgraduate students was discussed in detail.

At the end of the meeting, the holding of an international conference outside Iraq was discussed, within the framework of strengthening the initiative to open up international scientific cooperation to exchange scientific expertise

Dean of the College of Dentistry attend the Creativity and Excellence Award exam for dental colleges in Iraq.

The Dean of the College of Dentistry, Assistant Prof. Dr. Mohammad Rhael Ali, attended the Creativity and Excellence Award exam for medical colleges in Iraq, which was approved by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and under the supervision of the Deans Committee of Dental Colleges in Iraq and in the presence of the Director of the Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Department, Dr. Salah AlFatlawi.
The exam was held at the College of Dentistry, University of Baghdad, and the officials conducted an inspection tour to see the organization of the halls and provide the ideal environment that ensures the smooth and effective conduct of the exam.
This exam represents an important incentive for outstanding students to develop their scientific experiences and skills, and urge them to advance towards academic excellence. It also aims to evaluate the educational process in various colleges and create a spirit of scientific and academic competition between them.

College of Dentistry performs a complex surgical operation that is crowned with success

The Dean of the College of Dentistry, Assistant professor Dr. Mohammed Rhael Ali, Maxillofacial surgeon at maxillofacial surgery department performed a surgical operation to enucleate a lesion in the lower jaw of a forty - years - old patient.

Dr.Mohammed said that the patient was suffering from a large lesion in the lower jaw, and confirmed that the operation was performed under local anesthesia, which included total removal of the lesion from the lower jaw and sending the sample to the histological examination , adding that the operation was successful and the patient was discharged in good health. The operation is considered part of the training curriculum for fifth-stage students in the subject of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and is part of the college's efforts to qualify students at the highest levels. It is worth noting that the College of Dentistry has many initiatives in performing surgical operations for its clients in cases that require surgical intervention through an operating room equipped for this purpose

Professor Intisar Jassim Mohammed Participates in a Doctoral Dissertation Defense at the College of Dentistry, University of Baghdad

Professor Intisar Jassim Mohammed, Head of the Oral Diagnosis Department and faculty member at the College of Dentistry, Tikrit University, participated in the discussion of a doctoral dissertation at the College of Dentistry, University of Baghdad. The dissertation, titled:

"Histological and Immunohistochemical Study Using Protein Markers CD31 & DSPP to Evaluate the Biological Activity of Nano Chitosan and/or Calcium Carbonate Injectable Pulp Capping Material: An In Vivo Study on Rabbits,"

represents a significant scientific and academic contribution. This participation provides substantial benefits to the College of Dentistry, its faculty members, and Tikrit University as a whole

Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Dentistry, Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Raheel Ali, the College of Dentistry at Tikrit University hosted Professor Mike Lewis, an oral medicine specialist from Cardiff University in the United Kingdom. He is the President of the British Society for Oral and Dental Research, former Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in Glasgow, and Dean of the College of Dentistry at Cardiff University.

The event, held on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, featured a live-streamed lecture by Professor Lewis titled "The Latest Developments in Oral Cancer." The lecture covered the most recent updates on oral cancer, highlighted its key causes, and outlined preventive guidelines. During the session, a discussion took place between the students of the College of Dentistry and Professor Lewis, where students posed insightful questions on various aspects of oral cancer. The discussion was conducted in a smooth and scientifically enriching manner.

This event reflects the college's commitment to actively contributing to the advancement of the medical sector and fostering scientific communication with international universities. It is worth noting that Professor Mike Lewis has delivered over 700 invited lectures worldwide, published more than 200 scientific articles, and authored renowned textbooks in oral medicine. He is a member of the General Dental Council and a recipient of the John Tomes Medal from the British Dental Association, recognizing his outstanding contributions to the dental profession.
